Catholic Charities West Michigan understands the value of seniors in our community and is pleased to sponsor the AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent and AmeriCorps Seniors Senior Companion Programs.
The mission of AmeriCorps Seniors is to engage persons ages 55+, particularly those with limited incomes, in volunteer service to meet critical community needs.
AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteers strives to provide a high-quality experience that will enrich the lives of the volunteers and those they serve.

AmeriCorps Seniors Senior Companions
The AmeriCorps Seniors Senior Companion Program provides support and companionship to those that need increased assistance for daily living tasks and helps to improve their quality of life. The program aims to keep seniors independent longer and to provide assistance to families and caregivers.
AmeriCorps Seniors Senior Companion Volunteers serve 15-40 hours per week helping an average of 2-4 adult clients. AmeriCorps Seniors Senior Companions serve in their own local community in clients’ homes as well as senior centers and living facilities.

AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparents
AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent are role models, mentors, and friends to the children they serve.
The Foster Grandparent Program aids local schools, serving students in grades Pre-K through 8 by providing additional support to help them achieve their academic goals. AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteers spend time one-on-one with kids who would benefit from a little extra attention to succeed.

Become an AmeriCorps Volunteer
For our AmeriCorps Seniors Programs, AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteers must:
- Be 55 years or older
- Meet Federal income guidelines
- Undergo both State and Federal background checks
