Catholic Campaign for Human Development
Faith in Action Locally
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is the domestic anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, working to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ “…to bring good news to the poor… release to captives… sight to the blind, and let the oppressed go free.” (Luke 4:18)
At the heart of CCHD’s work is the conviction that those most impacted by unjust systems and structures are best positioned to identify and lead changes in their communities. The campaign works to empower low-income individuals and families to participate in the decisions that shape their lives. CCHD offers a hand up, not a hand out.
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development supports community organizations and education efforts, including those local to West Michigan, to break the cycle of poverty and uphold human dignity. It offers the Catholic community meaningful ways to live out their faith through action for justice and solidarity.
CCHD is made possible by the generous support of parishes in the United States, especially through an annual parish collection. For more information about CCHD and how you can participate in this campaign, please visit the CCHD website.
