Muskegon, Michigan, November, 2024
As the Michigan days grow colder, Catholic Charities West Michigan knows just how crucial it is to have a good, warm winter coat. A winter coat isn’t just about staying warm; it’s about safety and well-being during the harsh winter months. For many families, accessing winter clothing can be a significant burden, leaving many facing the coming season without the safety and protection of a winter coat. But Catholic Charities West Michigan took action, partnering with Molina Healthcare of Michigan and other communities organizations to ensure our families in Muskegon will not go cold this winter.
On Saturday, November 9, Catholic Charities West Michigan hosted a free winter coat drive-thru in partnership with Molina Healthcare of Michigan. During the event, about 1,000 coats were given to infants, children, and adults. In addition to the giveaway, Hackley Community Care provided dental services to those who entered the coat drive. A variety of other community partners attended to share information on community resources including Call 211, True North Community Services, Centro d Esperanza, Muskegon Rescue Mission, Catholic Charities West Michigan, and StandUp Wireless.
The annual coat drive is more than just about handing out coats. It is a holistic effort to support families in need. The dental services from Hackley Community Care and the wealth of information from our community partners highlighted how comprehensive support can address multiple needs simultaneously. Thank you to all those who worked and volunteered at the coat drive this year!
