Catholic Relief Services
Faith Knows No Bounds
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) carries out the commitment of the Bishops of the United States to assist the poor and vulnerable overseas. We are motivated by the Gospel of Jesus Christ to cherish, preserve and uphold the sacredness and dignity of all human life, foster charity and justice, and embody Catholic social and moral teaching as we act to put our faith into action to help the world’s poorest create lasting change.
Since 1943, CRS has been aiding those in need overseas, in accordance with Catholic social teaching to honor the value of human life, and to respect the dignity of every person. CRS does not discriminate based on race, religion, or ethnicity when serving those in need. Within the United States, CRS works to encourage Catholics to “live their faith in solidarity with the poor and suffering people of the world.”

CRS Rice Bowl
CRS Rice Bowl is the Lenten program of Catholic Relief Services, the official relief and development agency of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Rooted in the history of the Eucharistic Congress, CRS Rice Bowl invites Catholics and faith communities in the United States to encounter God and our global family throughout Lent by practicing the pillars of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Lenten alms donated through CRS Rice Bowl support the work of CRS in more than 130 different countries. Twenty-five percent of donations to CRS Rice Bowl stay in the local diocese, supporting hunger and poverty alleviation efforts.
Visit the CRS Rice Bowl website to learn about getting involved or making a donation.
