Counseling
Caring and Comprehensive Services
We focus on empowering individuals facing life’s challenges with compassionate, wraparound services designed to promote growth and brighter futures. We deliver personalized support across Michigan in areas such as substance use treatment, domestic violence counseling and batterers intervention, sexual abuse prevention, and anger management.
Our team of licensed professionals partners closely with those we serve, working collaboratively with referral sources to ensure those who seek our services receive the right care at the right time.
We participate with many insurances, including Medicaid. In some locations, additional funding may be available to help cover costs for the uninsured.
Substance Use Disorder Treatment
When individuals and families in West Michigan are struggling with addiction or dependence on alcohol or drugs, help is available through Catholic Charities West Michigan. Our confidential services are client-centered and strength-based with many funding options.
Treatment options include:
- Early Intervention
- Individual Counseling
- After Care support
All of our counselors are certified by the State of Michigan and trained to assist the client and family in all steps in recovery. Treatment services for adults are available in our Muskegon and Kent county locations.
We also offer Driver’s License evaluations/assessments.
Domestic Violence/Batterers Intervention Counseling
Our program exists to protect families from violence and abuse and provide alternatives to domestic violence. We offer group counseling and batterer intervention services to help individuals learn new, healthy techniques to replace abusive behaviors in Allegan, Barry, Kent, and Muskegon Counties.

Sexual Abuse Prevention Treatment
We currently have contracts with the Michigan Department of Corrections to provide sexual abuse prevention treatment throughout various locations around Michigan. Our therapists are licensed professionals trained to teach and guide clients to a safer, healthier future. The goal of our treatment program is to decrease recidivism by assisting clients in understanding their areas of need and risk.
Anger Management
Our anger management programs are offered to those on probation, parole, and as self-referral. We offer evidenced based curriculum in a group format exploring triggers to anger, how to shift one’s thinking to consider other perspectives, and creating safety plans. The program addresses how anger relates to past experiences and self-talk, healthy communication in relationships, conflict resolution, and empathy.
