God’s Kitchen, a program of Catholic Charities West Michigan, helps to feed the hungry with dignity and respect.  Located in the Heartside Neighborhood of urban Grand Rapids, God’s Kitchen served over 195,000 meals in 2008 and provides service through two programming initiatives.

Capitol Lunch -- Nourishment and meal-time respite are available to anyone who visits the dining room.  Meals are served daily from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. to guests on a walk-in basis with no questions, no qualifiers. 
 
Meals on Wheels -- Noon-time meals are delivered Monday -  Friday to the homebound through this community outreach initiative. Volunteers deliver food  to those in greatest need. 

Volunteers are the backbone of God's Kitchen. Over 3,000 volunteers help annually.  Individuals, organizations, and congregations from across West Michigan are invited to come together and address the needs of the hungry in our community. 

General God's Kitchen volunteer opportunities:

• Drivers are needed to help with food pick-ups from local stores and restaurants
• Office and clerical help is needed
• Volunteer assistance at special fundraising events like Soup’s On For All
• Building Maintenance (painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical)

Capitol Lunch volunteer opportunities:

•  Assist kitchen staff with meal preparation and serving on weekends and/or weekdays
•  Cleanup
•  Holiday meal service

Meals on Wheels volunteer opportunities:

•  Assemble meal packages
•  Cleanup
•  Deliver Meals on Wheels
